Alumni

About our Alumnis:

Our graduate program aims to provide the necessary theoretical and methodological training to ensure an efficient, timely, and successful completion of each PhD and MD thesis. The first cohort of PhD-students war trained from 2017 to 2020. The GRK offered individualized supervision and coaching program, as well as topic-related seminars, practical courses, and transferable skill workshops. It was and is our intention to help students gain an individual scientific character/personality and promote early independence.

The curriculum started with a lecture to impart basic knowledge about inflammation and its resolution (26x 45 min) to make sure every member starts with a solid theoretical background. Within the following three years each student took part in at least three methodological trainings organized by the GRK. The GRK offered six transferable skill workshops, a study trip to CLS Behring (Mannheim) and we had 66 voluntary participations of members of the GRK at courses offered by GRADE (Goethe Research Academy for Early Career Researchers), which were chosen upon the individual need of every student. With regular thesis committee meetings and internal progress reports the GRK ensured a successful ongoing of the scientific project. In addition, we had 13 guest seminars accompanied with a student lunch (discussion round of guest and students only), two Summer Schools in 2018 and 2019, an international symposium in Pescara Italy in November 2018 and a summer meeting with talks held by every student in 2020. The GRK also facilitated the attendance of national and international conferences in 57 cases (2017 to 2020).

All in all, we are confident to say that our students developed to very well trained, successful and self-reliant young academics with an exceptional basis for a future career in multiple areas.
